After the untimely death of his father, a young boy is left in eerie solitude on a vast country estate with his newly widowed stepmother. His stepmother, struggling to cope with the enormous task of parenthood, drifts away, leaving their fragile bond in danger of falling apart. As tensions mount, the boy begins to hear disturbing sounds echoing through the corridors and is soon haunted by a grotesque creature that bears an unsettlingly familiar resemblance to his dead father. As the boy’s warnings are dismissed as the imagination of a grieving child, the menacing entity tightens its grip on their crumbling lives.
