Tale

After his home is conquered by the tyrannical emperors who currently rule Rome, Lucius is forced into the Colosseum and must look to the past to find the strength to restore Rome to glory. Since the first film, in the years following the liberation, there have been several attempts to write a sequel. His version focused on the more mythic elements of ancient Rome and would have seen Maximus arrive in the afterlife only to be confronted by other souls who have yet to ascend. He is eventually commissioned by Jupiter and other Roman deities to return to earth to find and kill Hephaestus, a former deity who betrayed them. From there, he is resurrected as a Christian and finds himself traveling back to Rome on a mission to stop the spread of Christianity as he crosses paths with the new emperor, Lucius.

Emperor Geta: The Gods Have Spoken!

The film would have ended with Maximus cursed to live forever, showing a montage of the soldier fighting in the Crusades, World War II, and the Vietnam War, eventually revealing a modern-day Maximus working in the Pentagon in Washington. The studio decided not to continue with this version, but the script can be read online.. Appeared in The 7PM Project: July 2024 Episode 3 (2024). I was lucky enough to attend an early screening here in New York, so let’s start with the obvious. Gladiator 2 has CGI & amp; practical effects.

Now for the cons

At times you feel like you are in Rome. Denzel excels in his role and is up for an Oscar nomination, and blood and amp; gore is extremely entertaining. What’s not to like about a Roman gladiator getting his head chopped off in THEE Coliseum? Paul Mezcal, a phenomenal actor, did not bring what I wanted him to do in the film. Without giving away the plot, she excels in one-on-one scenes and compliments her on-screen partners beautifully.

However, he could have done better in groups where he was supposed to be the catalyst of the scene. As "leader" rebellion, uprising, etc. encouraging his noises, we expect a draw from him. However, there was never any desire to follow him. That might be a point, but when the only character I’m supposed to be excited about doesn’t make me want to jump into battle, it kind of misses the point.

In his most important scenes, the audience gets goosebumps

The story is better than average, but could be better. It fleshes out the bones of the original film and provides some fan service, but it’s by no means a stand-alone marvel compared to its predecessor. Overall, it’s a good match for the original Gladiator, which is one of the best movies of 2024, and will have some Oscar wins, but it falls short of what it could have been, which is a masterpiece.
