When visionary architect László Tóth and his wife Erzsébete flee post-war Europe in 1947 to rebuild their heritage and witness the birth of modern America, their lives are changed forever by a mysterious and wealthy client. It screened 12 films at the 2024 New York Film Festival, including Anora and the dangerous, strangely erotic Misericordia. Filming took place over a total of 34 days between March 16 and May 5, 2023.

Boring script, weird editing, terrible pacing and literally stupid power point transitions. It’s incredibly long, but there are still unresolved plot points. Not a hamburger of a movie that doesn’t have something to say.

As far as architecture movies go this year, Megalopolis was at least more entertaining. I will be very angry if this wins Anora in the Best Picture category. Felicity Jones also literally came on stage afterwards and told us that this was basically the first draft.
