Brown has taken a new direction

For those who don’t know, former titular Sally Hawkins has said it’s time to move on. I tried to like her but to me, Emily Mortimer is just an older product of the London School of Lovely Girls. I know the series has evolved but Emily’s opening moves are irritating, flat and uninspiring. For a few minutes I thought Oh no!! I tried to get attached to her, she progressed weirdly later in the movie… the least they could have done was give her a meaningful storyline, she was too much like a little wife who doesn’t talk much.

Let’s be fair

Sorry Em! Same with Madeleine Harris who plays Judy, excellent, more lines next time maybe, for both. She may have tried to be Sally Hawkins at times, I’m not sure, but she had big boots to fill and Sally was a resounding success. FrenchAll played their parts very well in the end. So anyway, the adorable Peruvian finds himself this time taking the initiative and coming to the aid of the family members.

that doesn’t take away from the CGI impact of the film and one in particular, particularly heartbreaking

This journey takes him around the world to guess where… A family member is in trouble and the oldest folly and deadly sin are the cause of all the mischief. The scenery in this far away place is breathtaking, simply beautiful, it inspired me to go there, as is London which is eerily happy. There is plenty of hilarity in the film, action and tears too, but very young children, of a less courageous nature, will find it less warm, frightening at times I thought sometimes. Visually it is just as fantastic as the previous films, while the storyline is at one point flat and a little predictable, the mysteries unfolded were simple enough for a five year old to solve… aha… the target audience. Haha ….

Forget it if you have a healthy phobia of certain creatures (not snakes)

Bonneville looks like he has had a hair transplant, I’m not sure, but he gives a great performance as always, as do the Walters and a few newcomers to the story. Hey…a glamorous character from the last movie makes an appearance, let’s just say I don’t think this is the end.
