Eva (Odessa Young), a 19th-century widow, is faced with an impossible choice when, in the middle of a particularly harsh winter, a ship sinks off the coast of her isolated fishing village. Eva and her crew must choose between rescuing the castaways or surviving the winter on the last of their food. Facing the consequences of their choice and wracked with guilt, the villagers struggle with a growing sense of dread and begin to believe that they are all being punished for their choices.
